Cindy Crawford – A Big Name For A Big Supermodel

Nowadays, if you ask a young model who her favorite icon is, chances are that she will say Cindy Crawford and for good reason; it is one of the biggest names that ever walked the catwalk and it is a name that everyone can recognize. She was born on February 20, 1966 in Illinois and was discovered by chance as she was working at her summer job and a photographer took a picture of her. This was enough to convince the young girl to forget about selling corn and start considering a career in modeling. After two summers with Elite Model management, Cindy decided to put the modeling life on hold and focus on her studies.

During the fashion boom of the 80s and 90s, Cindy Crawford was everywhere. Every catwalk and fashion magazine wanted to have her and she became one of the most popular supermodels in the world. To show that she is very confident with her body even away from the prestigious catwalks, she posed nude for Playboy magazine, being the first supermodel to do this. A second nude pictorial, much more revealing, was in October 1998 which became one of the top selling issues of the magazine.

Her career wasn’t just limited to the catwalks and magazines but she also appeared on the small screen. For 6 years, Cindy Crawford was the host of MTV’s House Of Style as well as appearing in some big Pepsi commercials. The normal and expected step for her was to move to the big screen and in 1995, she took part in her first movie, Fair Game. It wasn’t really a success and her role wasn’t much appreciated but it was a nice attempt at a new career. Other small roles followed but none that would launch her in the world of acting.

All in all, Cindy Crawford is one of the biggest supermodels of all time and she was the face for many big fashion brands. She was featured on the cover of magazines such as Vogue, ELLE, Cosmopolitan and many more. The classic all-American beauty was surely left her mark in the world of modeling.
