Linda Evangelista

Linda Evangelista is a famous supermodel from Canada but her parents were Italian. She was raised in a working-class environment but she always wanted to be a model and it didn’t take long for someone to discover her talent. In 1978, at the Miss Teen Niagara beauty pageant, a talent agent saw the potential that was in this 13 year old girl. As it is with most famous models, it all started when she moved to New York where she was able to sign a contract with Elite Model Management. To further pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a famous model, she moved to Paris. As she became more popular, prestigious contracts appeared and she declared in an interview for Vogue magazine that she and some of her close model friends don’t wake out of bed for less than $10,000 a day; a phrase which quickly became popular and many similar versions appeared that represented the expensive lifestyle of being a famous model.

At the end of the day, it wasn’t just about the money but also about the message which was given by a certain image and by the fashion world in the 80s. Linda was always the kind of woman that likes to take control and call the shots and there is no better example of this fact than the story when she cut her hair short to have a more boyish style. That season, she was canceled from every catwalk show but within months, she was back on the cover of fashion magazines with the support of numerous women that took the style as their own.

Over her long and rich career, she appeared in over 600 covers and worked with countless big names in the business such as L’Oreal. Linda Evangelista is the image of Talbots as announced in June 2010. Her modeling career made her very famous and her image is one of the most popular in the industry. Although things haven’t always gone her way as far as personal life goes, she always found the power to carry on. Linda Evangelista is indeed a strong woman and role model who always knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to go for it.
